We would like to thank everyone who turned up to this event. You'r presence made it a really memorable night.
Given the fact that it went on until 4am it was surprising that it filled up relatively quickly.
Mick started the evening off playing a few of his rarer records, while people started to arrive. Declan followed and the floor started to fill up. Tony Warot was next on and he really got the floor rocking and set the atmosphere for what turned out to be a great night. Tony Dellar next...Tony did what Tony does best entertaining us for a full hour and a half, taking us up to 12.30am. - Brilliant!
Next on was Martin Stanford who joking said to me what can I play now? No worries there - he played an hour of top quality soul, appreciated by all - the floor was never empty.
Mick was on next what can I say? He's my old man. He payed some great records and still the floor was rocking. By this time we were really full, a few late dedicated 'Soulie's' had come from another event to spend the rest of their night at the City..thank's guys.
Declan took over at 2.30am not an easy thing to do, given what had gone before, but he gave of his best and kept the pace up for an hour. By this time I would say that 30% had started to drift off home so there was a little more room on the dance floor.
Tony Warot volunteered to do the last half an hour, he was as fresh as a daisy but everyone else was pretty much shot by then. He played some great tunes keeping the 'Die hard' amoungst us happy until 4am.
Most people had drifted off by this time, but at the very end of the evening we still had about 40 people there...amazing really.
I really enjoyed this event, although myself and Lynda did not come off the door until long after 12'o'clock - we were aware of what was being played and really enjoyed it. (Lynda had said preiously that she doubted she would last until 4 and would probably leave earlier) - well done Lynda for sticking it out to the very end.
It was nice to see such a large crowd enjoying themselves, it's what makes it all wortwhile.
Thank's for coming and....Keeping the faith.
Karen
